FINANCIAL AID WORKSHOP FOR SCHOOL COUNSELORS AND PROFESSIONALS  

This free 60-minute workshop is designed for school guidance counselors and professionals who work with young adults considering college. This series of workshops is being offered in partnership with the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office. The workshop will be offered on 6 different days at various times. Please email Lorena to lrodriguez@guinncenter.org to register or phone 702-427-7509 if you have questions. The Guinn Center will be hosting a second workshop in October designed for students and their families.

Stanford University researchers will summarize their forthcoming report 2020 State of Latino Entrepreneurship, and kick off two brief panel discussions highlighting local and national Latino entrepreneurs.

BEER AND BAR GRAPHS: HOW DATA WAS USED IN THE 2019 LEGISLATIVE SESSION

This event featured an informal conversation with legislators, lobbyists, advocacy groups, and media representatives who discussed their perspectives on how data was used (or rejected) during the 2019 Legislative session. Panelists include: Senator Yvanna Cancela, Senator Keith Pickard, Tyre Gray (Fennemore Craig), Erin McMullen (Boyd Gaming), Eric Jeng (Asian Community Development Council), and political reporter Steve Sebelius (Las Vegas Review-Journal).

DINE & DIALOGUE DINNER SERIES  

The Guinn Center, in partnership with Teach Plus, has sponsored a series of dinners in Las Vegas and Reno to discuss education in Nevada. Stay tuned for our next dinner. These dinners were generously sponsored by The Line and the Catamount Fund. 

PUBLIC FORUM FOR CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR EDUCATION BOARDS 

The Guinn Center sponsored public fora in Reno and Las Vegas for candidates running for the board of trustees of Clark County School District and Washoe County School District.  See our Facebook page for pictures and a video of the Candidates Forum in Reno.

 

TAKING ACTION FOR SOCIAL CHANGE: LOBBYING & ADVOCACY FOR NONPROFITS  

In partnership with the Alliance for Nevada Nonprofits, the Guinn Center organized a half-day workshop for nonprofits in southern Nevada. Topics included a discussion on advocacy versus lobbying, Nevada Legislature 101, and outreach strategies.

 

GUINN CENTER CELEBRATES ITS 4TH ANNIVERSARY
